Acceso Social Business Internship Program

The Acceso Social Business Internship Program is a three to twelve-month program giving undergraduate students and recent graduates the opportunity to obtain hands-on, real-world experience working within a portfolio of innovative social businesses.

About Acceso

Acceso ( is a pioneering social business builder that brings entrepreneurial solutions to global poverty. Acceso, formerly known as the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership, was co-founded by philanthropist Frank Giustra and President Clinton in 2007. Acceso’s mission is to create fundamental and lasting economic change in the lives of rural smallholder farming families. Our pioneering entrepreneurial model provides smallholder farmers with a sustainable way to participate in formalized markets, enabling them to work themselves out of poverty with dignity and to prosper. Acceso focuses on five key initiatives: empowering farmers to improve agricultural production, guaranteeing market access, boosting local social entrepreneurship, improving food security, and market linked reforestation.

Acceso currently operates a portfolio of three social businesses in Colombia, Haiti and El Salvador. Across our agribusinesses, we have impacted more than 15,000 smallholder farmers and farm workers, generating more than $55m in farmer income to date. Acceso has plans for replicating its model across Latin America and the Caribbean.

About the Internship Program

Changing lives at scale through innovative social business models is a task requiring the collaboration of creative, entrepreneurial, and bright minds from a variety of backgrounds from around the globe. The Acceso team, including senior management of its businesses, is currently comprised of 20+ individuals in four countries from a variety of backgrounds including private equity, engineering, impact investing, consulting, logistics, agriculture, international development, sales and accounting. In just over five years, our innovative model has scaled to annual portfolio revenues of over $15m and breakeven EBITDA. Our model incorporates numerous partners including major national and international retailers, fast food chains, hotels, foundations and impact investors including Acumen, Global Partnerships and Kiva.

As we continue to scale our businesses and replicate our model, we are seeking motivated undergraduate students and recent graduates looking to tackle the intricacies of operating social businesses first-hand. By joining our team, Acceso interns will directly learn from Acceso experts about operations management, business case development, best practices in farmer network management, financial and social reporting, and other topics.

The Acceso Social Business Internship Program is a three to twelve-month program (dependent upon agribusiness project needs and intern schedules), throughout which Acceso interns will have the unique 2 opportunity to obtain hands-on, real-world experience within a portfolio of social businesses. All placements are based in Colombia, Haiti and El Salvador, working directly with Acceso social enterprises.

Based on experience and interest level, Acceso interns will tackle real issues and support projects in diverse work areas ranging from data management, finance and accounting, operations, agronomy, social impact and fundraising. The internship is paid a modest stipend and covers all internship-related travel expenses. Additionally, Acceso is also open to partnerships with universities so that students can obtain academic credit and/or funding from their institution.
