The Shipping Assistant is responsible for obtaining approvals and expediting customs clearance of incoming and outgoing shipments for the U.S. Government shipments and personal effects of U.S. citizen personnel assigned to post. Such clearances are obtained for shipment by sea, air and land. The incumbent shall also process VAT exemption for the US mission. He/she works under the direct supervision of the Shipping & Customs Supervisor.
Two years of Customs and Shipping experience; at least one year of this must have been obtained in the Shipping Office of the local (Customs, Finance or Foreign Ministry) Government or a Shipping Company.
Two (2) years of College or studies of Customs Technics & Procedures are required.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Port-au-Prince may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
