Information Technology Specialist I
The Information Technology Specialist will receive calls from users requesting solutions or service to personal computer problems; conduct and coordinate user support for personal computer software/hardware and online systems through telephone communication and on-site assistance; install and perform repairs to hardware, software, and for peripheral equipment following design or installation specifications; setup videoconference meetings and audiovisual equipment for events and classes; maintain and setup equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of computers, cabling, operating systems and appropriate software; maintain record of daily technology support transactions, problems, and remedial action taken and installation activities in helpdesk tracking software; train users in the proper use of hardware and software; refer major hardware and software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service; prepare evaluations of software or hardware and recommend improvements or upgrades; serve as liaison between customers and system providers to answer questions and solve problems.
Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, software, and programming. Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Good organization, time management, and prioritization. Good communication ability, both written and verbal, and active listening. Great customer service and interpersonal skills. Personable, professional demeanor.
BA in Information Technology or related field or minimum 5 years of work in the field.
Physical demands: While performing duties of job, employee will be required to stand, walk, climb, sit, reach, talk, and hear. The employee will often be required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance and color vision and the ability to adjust focus. * Work environment: The noise level in the work environment will probably be moderate.
